Based in Devon, Jason is an accomplished woodturner with a reputation that spans the UK, Australia, and the USA, where he teaches and demonstrates regularly. Introduced to the lathe at just twelve years old, his passion for woodturning was solidified at age fifteen after attending a week-long course with renowned turner Cecil Jordan. That experience, particularly the introduction to the turned wooden box, sparked a lifelong fascination with this deceptively simple form.

Though he holds a BA (Hons) in Furniture Design and Management and enjoys furniture making, Jason’s true creative focus remains at the lathe. While proficient in a wide range of turning disciplines, his specialty is in box making—an area where he continually pushes boundaries of form and technique.

Jason’s unique approach to design has earned him multiple awards, including First Prize in the Plain Box category at the Worshipful Company of Turners competition in 2010. His ongoing “Orbital Arc Box” series exemplifies his commitment to innovation, where form, grain, and natural wood character play a central role in each piece.

From round to square and even more unconventional forms, Jason redefines what a turned box can be. He believes that the inherent beauty of wood—its natural colour and grain—should never be hidden but celebrated. Through his work, Jason continues to explore and expand the creative potential of woodturning, inspiring others and contributing to the evolution of contemporary craft.
