Lucas Greenfield is a 14yo portrait artist whose imagination and curiosity allow him to explore the human features with freedom, beyond any norms of reality to challenge what ‘beauty’ can be.

The faces painted are often heavily distorted, sometimes lending the character a comical expression, other times, a sad and painful reflection.

Each work follows a similar process: having the idea, sketching it in various phases and experimenting with colours before it is painted on the final medium.

Lucas is a prolific artist and his works go beyond painting, it includes photography, film making, sculpture, animation, illustration – all accompanied by the ‘right’ sound track to set the mood. Music is also a source of inspiration for him though lots of elements found in his work are drawn by his own experiences and views.

Achievements: The drawing ’Homeless Man’ made it to the Royal Academy of Arts’ Young Artist Summer Show in 2021 when Lucas was only 9yo. At 10yo, he was selected to take part in the BBC’s Britain’s Best Young Artist show in the portrait category. Last year, he held a solo exhibition as part of the Dorset Arts’Week displaying more than 50 pieces. This year, for the second time, Lucas was selected to display his oil painting ‘Reflection’ at the Royal Academy of Arts’ Young Artist Summer Show.

You can find some of Lucas’s works on his Instagram LG_PureArts. He’s already sold paintings to clients in Australia, Canada, Brazil and the USA.
