Jo Lilley Textile Artist A love of nature, the local countryside and coastline of Dorset inspire my intricate needle felted sculptures, each one detailed with different wools bringing to life unique, playful characters which becomes a total labour of love! Whilst originally focused on fibre sculpture, I continued to develop my knowledge and understanding of textiles, providing a perfect springboard into weaving. Additionally, I create hand-woven textiles from pure linens, wools, cottons, and silks on a floor loom, called Jessica. Combining innate creativity, attention to detail and a flair for colour I attempt to break convention resulting in exquisite and complex designs of scarves, shawls, and rugs. Each of the artforms enhance the tactile and visual enjoyment of natural fibres and promotes the value of its durability, luxurious quality, and eco-sustainability. I am fortunate to have been awarded numerous trophies and given recognition by several Associations including the National Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, the Dorset Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, Dorset Arts and Crafts Association and the Dorset County Show. I have also been awarded full membership of Make Southwest and exhibit not only in their Gallery in Bovey Tracey but in several Galleries across the Southwest of England.
