2023 ARTIST TERESA LAWTON Since Graduating from Winchester College of Art in 1994 with a BA Degree with Hons in Fine Art Teresa Lawton has been successfully exhibiting since the mid 90’s. Having had paintings exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition on several occasions and has exhibited at the major London Art Fairs since 1995. She is now represented by The Wykeham Gallery, Stockbridge. In 1997 Teresa had two of her paintings selected by HRH the Prince of Wales for the Discerning Eye Exhibition in London. Born in Dorset, Teresa spent most of the 70’s in London before living in Greece for a time. She had spent much time in Cornwall through her developing years as a painter and still spends much of the winter months at Lamorna Cove. She is an Associate member of the Penwith Gallery, St Ives, Cornwall and is a regular exhibitor with them. The mid 20th century St Ives artists have always been a great inspiration in her work and she has remained true to that influence throughout her career. She paints mostly in oils, the landscape is her subject. Abstracted and invented dreamscapes inspired by solitary walks over Dorset and Cornish countryside and coast paths. For her Dorset lends itself to a softer landscape with rolling hills along the coast, punctuated by quiet hillside farms and barns, Cornwall however demands a tougher more abstracted approach with its rugged terrain and treacherous coastline.
