Lisa Layton

I am an artist and illustrator living in West Dorset. I have recently published a book, Sketches of the Dorset Coast. The book catalogues my journey along Dorset’s coast from Studland to Lyme Regis recording the local landmarks, beaches and towns in watercolour sketches and drawings. I like to capture the things or moments that made me smile, whether that is people sat chatting, beach finds or simply a line of washing blowing in the breeze.

When I am not sketching and drawing I love to paint with oils on board. I am constantly drawn to paint the coast, particularly to where the land meets the sea. It is a subject I return to again and again trying to capture that elusive feeling of what it actually feels like to be there.
