I began my artistic journey as a glassmaker / jeweller before turning to paint
Initially I painted botanical subjects and representational landscapes.
My work is now more abstracted.
Light and space play a crucial part in my painting. I love the way paint can have such an emotional impact, the feelings it can evoke. I usually have no idea how a piece will finish and I change it constantly during the process, with no plan , just how it makes me feel.
The skies and landscape inspire me.
Working mostly in acrylics, oils and mixed media my paintings just seem to evolve subconsciously.
When they stop causing me to question a colour or a mark and feel complete then I know a piece is finished.
An important influence for , me are the works of Turner and his use of colour and light .
