Caroline Crawford IMG

I spent my working life as a teacher in South West London. Art and especially ceramics have always been important to me. Alongside teaching and bringing up my family I studied for an HNC and HND in Ceramics at Richmond School of Art. It is only now that I am retired and living on the Jurassic coast, that I can devote my time to making and experimenting with a variety of clays & techniques.

My work captures the different layers and colours inspired from the country side around me. The view from my garden across the vale down to the sea is always changing with the weather and the seasons. So, also my work develops and changes from fine white porcelain to grogged stoneware, delicate celadon glazes to bold earthy slips. Currently my work is functional but I also like it to sit as a piece of art on your shelf.
