Jill Marsden
I have always enjoyed experimenting with different media and different subjects, returning to styles and subjects I particularly like and moving on when something new takes my attention. I have no formal qualification and have felt free to wander around these impulses, seeking and using learning and development opportunities through workshops and art groups.
I find it exciting to start with a thread of an idea or colour palette, creating texture and then allowing the painting to guide me through to it’s completion. Sometimes clear shapes and images appear, wanting to be taken forward and a mixture of intuition and theory can lead to very satisfying, even unexpected, results. Other paintings evolve from a more realistic need to represent a visit to a special place I wish to remember.
