Jackie Atkins

Dorset based artist, Jackie Atkins studied Fine Art Textiles at Winchester School of Art. She draws on her background in textile design and printmaking having designed for both furnishing company Colefax and Fowler and for ceramics company Wedgewood. Throughout, she has continued to pursue her creative activities and in the last five years has produced a body of work in both ceramics and printmaking.

Her ceramics use traditional pinching, slabbing and coiling methods before hand painting marks that portray her natural surroundings. Her inspiration derives from her living close to the sea in particular searching for shapes, patterns and natural forms.

Each piece is individually handcrafted and unique.
