Low tide at kimmeridge bay

As a landscape artist, I believe that no place compares to that in which the world has come alive to you, where you know every rock, every path, and all images are held so clearly in your mind. Being based in Dorset has enabled me to experience this and focus on my passion for painting.
My paintings depict my response and emotional connection to my surroundings through the images I create. I spend long periods walking and sketching along the Jurassic Coast. I am motivated by the dramatic landforms and wildness of the coast and countryside, often returning to familiar places as well as seeking new inspiration.
I begin my paintings by going out sketching and these activate my memories – of the weather, the view, colours, leaving my imagination free when I come to compose and complete my paintings. I aim to simplify the complexity of the landscape, drawing out the image, building and balancing shape and colour to reflect the strength, uniqueness and beauty of the scenery.
I exhibit widely and my pictures are in collections around the world. My work can currently be viewed at Compton Acres in Poole and by visiting my studio.
