Ama Menec

Ama Menec Ama fettling the Susie wax at Pangolin Editions

I work in stoneware, porcelain and bronze, from the small, intimate, hand painted, high fired porcelain wildlife brooches, to life sized wildlife bronzes, and everything in between. My small gift sized wildlife stoneware bas relief sculptures are suitable for indoor and outdoor spaces and several hang in multiple directions. My hand painted, high fired porcelain decorations and beaded decorations cover as many species of British wildlife as I can, and the beaded decorations, if hung in a window, will give the viewer rainbows from their faceted beads, on a sunny day.

My natural history bronze sculptures celebrate rewilding and reintroductions, flags up areas of concern and above all, shows the viewer something unique about each species that they may never see. All my sculptures are unified by my contemporary Art Deco styling, and in the case my most recent maquette of the Red Fox, this is used to show the crushed tail fur where she has been lying asleep.

My latest sculpture is a public sculpture of Susie the Dorchester cat, posing as a Roman cat, and will be unveiled on South Street, Dorchester in November.

I have exhibited my work at The British Museum, Oxford’s Natural History Museum, The Mall Galleries, the Royal Academy Summer Open, the RA Scotland and the Ulster RA.
