Jackie Atkins

Dorset-based artist Jackie Atkins studied Fine Art Textiles at Winchester School of Art. She draws on her background in textile design and printmaking, having created designs for furnishing company Colefax and Fowler and ceramics company Wedgwood. Throughout her career she has continued to pursue her creative practice and, over the last five years, has developed a body of work in both ceramics and printmaking.
Her ceramics are made using traditional hand-building techniques such as pinching, slabbing, and coiling, before being hand-painted with marks that reflect her natural surroundings. Much of her inspiration comes from living close to the sea, particularly her exploration of shapes, patterns, and natural forms.
Each piece is individually handcrafted and unique.
