Julie Hacket

After retiring from teaching….30 years in Dorset schools, I have very much welcomed the opportunity I now have for my own painting and have enjoyed starting afresh, with new ideas and the time needed to follow my own interests. I like to take a ‘close up’ view for my flower and garden studies. My garden is a powerful inspiration for my work. My first love was water colour but of late have turned to acrylics and oils on canvas and larger scale work.
I have also expanded my interests to include local landscapes, such as Nothe Gardens, the Rodwell Trail and seascapes. Most recently I have been experimenting with using strong, vibrant contrasting colours in my paintings, looking for drama and impact.
