Sara Mower

I am a part time artist living in the beautiful county of Dorset. Predominately self taught I paint in watercolour, gouache and since lockdown when a designated art studio was built in our garden I have increasingly painted using oils. Trained in Horticulture and Garden Design I love being outside in nature and now often take my oil paints out for Plein air work locally and further afield with art groups and on my own.

We have recently taken on an allotment and already I have found inspiration for painting within this setting. One of these recent paintings my ‘Shed Series’
will be on show with Art in Poundbury ‘A Hive of Activity’ exhibition. Activity is everywhere on the allotment!

My style is still developing as I endeavour to paint an impression of the subject using less detailed brush strokes when out in the field or working from sketchbook work and still life set ups in the studio. I do not always succeed in this looser approach but love the act of trying without worrying about outcomes!
