Becky Hamilton

I began working with clay in 2022, exploring both hand-building and throwing on the wheel. Two trips to Sicily to learn and develop my wheel-throwing skills were particularly inspiring, opening my eyes to the possibilities of pottery as a creative practice and to the influence that places, people and the world around us can have on the things we make.
My work ranges from bespoke, functional pieces made to be used and enjoyed, to more sculptural forms where I can experiment more freely with shape, texture and ideas. I enjoy the balance between the practical and the creative, and the fact that working with clay always offers something new to learn.
Much of my inspiration comes from the natural world close to home — the colours, shapes and textures of the local landscape often find their way into my work, sometimes deliberately and sometimes without me really noticing. I am loving my time with clay!
