I never set out to become a jewellery maker; I simply followed something that made me happy, and it grew into something I could never have imagined.
After many years working in nursing and caring for others, creativity gradually became an important part of my own life. I discovered silver clay and was immediately captivated by the idea that I could take a handful of material and create something completely unique with my own hands.
That little spark became Sunshine et Buttercups, my handcrafted jewellery business in Poundbury, Dorset. I work primarily with pure silver, creating earrings, pendants, rings, bracelets and personalised pieces, often inspired by nature and the little details I see around me.
I love jewellery because it can be deeply personal. A tiny impression of a leaf, a fingerprint, a meaningful word or a simple shape can become something precious that carries a memory or marks an important moment. I especially enjoy creating commissions because I get to be part of those stories.
My creative journey has also led me to teaching silver clay workshops. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching someone arrive unsure of what they can create and leave proudly wearing a piece of pure silver jewellery they have made themselves.
For me, Sunshine et Buttercups is about much more than jewellery. It is about creativity, connection, individuality and finding little moments of joy — both in making and in sharing.
