Podi Lawrence

A professional artist/designer for over 40 years specialising in portraiture/figurative studies and landscapes. A qualified Adult Education teacher she has led groups on vocational painting holidays as well as instructed art courses. Her speciality is people and figurative work having completed many private portrait commissions. In 1994 she was resident artist with the English National Ballet completing many sketches and oil paintings of the dancers both in rehearsals and performing on stage. She also did some studies of the dancers of the Matthew Bourne’s male version of Swan Lake. In 2000-2010, whilst in Canada, she was resident artist with the “Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival” producing images for the publicity of this annual event and other commissions from the K-W Symphony Orchestra and was also Director of the Kitchener/Waterloo (KOR) Art Gallery for 3-years.

She uses many different media in her work from pen/ink, pencils, graphite etc., paintings in Watercolours, Acrylic and Oils. Now semi-retired (do artists retire?) with several paintings “on the go” at her home studio. She is available for commissions and likes to “get out there” and study ‘en plein air”. She
offers 1-1 advisory and demonstrations to groups.
