Moira Hazel
Born in South Wales Moira lived in England. Germany and Cyprus before settling in Dorset. She has also spent a lot of time in Australia with her family and has been influenced by the Australian way of life.
She is inspired by Matisse, Derain, Hundertwasser, Klimt and many modern modern painters, especially those using bold colours, patterns and textures. Places visited, plant forms, the light, colour, rock patterns and children’s’ art all add to the mix. She finds inspiration is everywhere.
She has escaped the confines of realism and is always trying new ideas, not always in her comfort zone. Moira always tries to paint what feels right to her , and she finds that her work seems to create itself.
She works quietly with no external noises. Just the buzz off hundreds of decisions. She has no idea how a painting is going to end up. And is not worried about ‘getting it wrong’.
For Moira, Art is about being original and inspiring. Working in these confines energises and excites her, and makes her very happy.
