Gillian Gould

1 Photo With Work Example

After teaching overseas for 30 years Gillian returned to Dorset in 2015 and has been able to spend more time developing her interest in art. She completed a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design in June 2021. She has since been busy experimenting with various art techniques involving acrylic and water colour paints, pen, ink, charcoal, pastel and mixed media. She uses a range of subject matter that interests her from landscapes and figure drawing to semi-abstract depictions. Gillian combines her two interests of art and hiking. She travels with her sketch books when trekking in the UK and overseas, capturing the landscapes and local atmosphere in water colour and ink sketches. Her paintings in this exhibition are from of a series based on the moorlands north of Hadrian’s Wall. She aimed to capture both the isolation, vast ruggedness and serene beauty of the area.
