Beverley Stephens
I was born in Yorkshire and was inspired by my mother who was a painter and three dimensional artist. At the age of 14 one of my paintings was selected for an exhibition at the Foyles Gallery in London. My A level subjects achieved at grammar school included Art and the History of Architecture. After training at Loughborough University, although my main subject was Physical Education, I also taught Art at Secondary School level. Painting, particularly landscapes, has been a hobby all my life and when living in Reading I became an active member and Chairman of the Reading Guild of Artists. I frequently exhibited with them. After retiring from my position in the National Sports Council I produced many paintings on commissions. When I moved to Dorset I joined the Dorchester Art Club and retired as President a few years ago. Recently I have travelled extensively around the world and have found inspiration for new subjects.
