Ali Hutchison is an emerging artist, developing what started as a church-based practice during an MA (distinction) at the then Leeds College of Art (2015-17). She has exhibited at Southwell Minster, RHS Tatton Park Flower Show, shown fourteen stations of the cross in Manchester and Essex and had work used by a number of other churches and retreat centres, most recently in Poole, Dorset. Her 3D work can be found in the Sou’-Sou-West Gallery and shop at Symondsbury in Dorset. She is a member of Lyme Bay Arts. ‘Joy’, her piece in the Christmas Exhibition is a celebration of parental love and delight, of babyhood alarm and laughter and a deep bond of trust and intimacy. An image of this work has been used by Canon Lucy Holt on the cover of her book, ‘At Home with God’, because for her it represents something of our potential relationship with a heavenly parent.
