‘Art in the Squares’ in June was my first experience of art ‘en plein air’ and I really enjoyed the thrill of completing a piece of art in a single sitting, as well as the interaction with local residents and other artists during the event. I was delighted that my watercolour came first in my category. In August, I took part in another ‘Art in Poundbury’ event, ‘Art in the Sunflowers’ at Maiden Castle, and again, was thrilled to come first in my category, this time with an acrylic painting. Cards and prints of my ‘Art in the Square’ painting are for sale at the Winter Exhibition in Poundbury, and proceeds from the sale of my art is contributing to a coastal protection and wildlife conservation project in Borneo that I am taking part in next summer. I look forward to developing my art skills by exploring oil paints, and look forward to more Art in Poundbury events in our beautiful County town next year.
