Born in Dorset, Teresa Lawton spent most of the 70’s in London before living in Greece for several years. She graduated from Winchester College of Art in 1994 with a BA Degree with Hons in Fine Art.
She has been successfully exhibiting since the mid 90’s. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition on several occasions and has exhibited at the major London Art Fairs since 1995. This year she has shown at the 2025 British London Art Fair in Islington represented by Amanda Aldous Fine Art. She also exhibits with The Wykeham Gallery, Stockbridge and The Penwith Gallery in St Ives, Cornwall. She also curates the Jubilee Hall exhibitions for Art in Poundbury. In 1997 Teresa had two of her paintings selected by HRH the Prince of Wales for the Discerning Eye Exhibition in London.
Having lived in Purbeck for many years and now near Weymouth, Dorset is very much her home county. Though it is Cornwall that has inspired much of her artwork. She has always spent much time there and it is the coast, sky and light which she feels is unique inspiring her abstracted paintings. Her imagined land and seascapes which don’t comply with what you see and are more driven by what you feel. The mid 20th century St Ives artists have always been a great inspiration in her work and she has remained true to that influence throughout her career.
She is an Associate Member of the Penwith Gallery, St Ives.
