Louise Wendel-Davies

A lifelong dream realized, the coast has been a long-awaited home for me, having carried a deep connection to the sea since childhood. Relocating to the south unlocked a profound new wave of creativity, inspiring a hands-on approach to making that spans both upcycling furniture and exploring the organic textures of the natural world.
For many years, seaweed art was a fascination held from afar—a quiet curiosity waiting for the right time and place to unfold. Settling by the ocean provided that exact catalyst, allowing me to finally bring these long-held visions to life. My debut collection reflects a deep appreciation for marine flora, capturing the ephemeral beauty of the shoreline through meticulous, hands-on craft.
The piece featured in Wild Things is deeply rooted in place, crafted entirely from seaweeds foraged directly along the dramatic shores of Lulworth Cove. Each frond and filament is carefully selected, preserving the unique colors, structures, and wild spirit of the Jurassic Coast. Through this work, I aim to translate the untamed energy of the sea into tangible forms, bridging a lifelong passion with my new coastal reality.
Thank you for taking the time to observe my art.
