Saturday December 9th
1pm – 4pm

Lyn Kirkland works with the rather unusual medium of Encaustic. A combination of beeswax and a tree resin called Damar are melted together to form the base paint.
Lyn creates multi-layered paintings of landscapes, seascapes, abstracts and photo-encaustic pieces, which involve embedding images underneath the wax layers to produce an ethereal, magical finished piece. Visitors will be able to see how ‘light’ and ‘texture’ is created by removing wax from a pre-painted surface.
“Visitors will be able to see how ‘light’ and ‘texture’ is created by removing wax from a pre-painted surface. Visitors will be able to “have a go” at this very satisfying technique.”
Charlotte Beare charlottebeareart.co.uk/
A self-taught artist, I began my artistic journey as a photorealistic pencil portrait artist. In recent years, I’ve started to work far more freely and expressively, incorporating a range of media including pastels, acrylics and oils. I enjoy painting light and shadows, and am keen to capture movement and energy in my landscapes. Painting brings me a lot of joy and I hope this comes across in my work.
