Trevor Blackburn

I am a self-trained artist who concentrates on Portraiture, but who, somewhat counter intuitively, also has a love of colour and a lack of formality.
I spent my working life in the construction industry, starting in a small drawing office using a traditional drawing board and set square, occasionally being allowed to sketch ideas and details freehand, but for the most part plotting straight lines in exact detail. As I moved on, I left behind the Rotring pens, indelible ink and heavy tracing paper, and I never experienced the joys of designing buildings electronically, and so it was not until I retired that I was able to reignite my love of free hand drawing and painting.
During lockdown I set myself the task of drawing the face of each of my Grandchildren and, when I ran out of models, I moved on to explore the joys of alternative subjects, techniques and mediums. I am still on that fascinating journey.
