Reba Bawden

All of my pots are handcrafted in my garden studio in Poole, Dorset. I was lucky enough to throw my first pot at the age of five and I have always found the slow, gentle rhythm of ceramics to be therapeutic.
My work aims to reflect the tranquility I feel while creating and become something that adds beauty and enriches the everyday. I use neutral colours that reflect the nature of the clay and fit beautifully within any home. As well as being visually beautiful, I find that the handcrafted nature of my work makes them incredibly tactile, reminiscent of holding a smooth pebble, and I encourage you to pick my pieces up!
For me, handmade ceramics offer the wonderful opportunity to make truly unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. From the initial hand-throwing to the final hand-finishing and glazing, I invest my heart and soul into each piece, giving them their own distinct personality.
This individuality sets them apart from mass-produced ceramics and highlights the artistry of handmade pottery. There is something quite special about using my hands, a few simple tools and heat to transform a humble ball of clay into a beautiful object that will last for years.
