Jennifer Monds

Jenny Monds lived for a number of years in Dorset. She now lives just over the border in Wiltshire (in the Chalke Valley), but loves to return. She trained as a librarian and ran a bookshop until the end of 2018, when she gave up paid employment to spend more time on her artistic pursuits. She now works in her home studio on mainly abstract or semi-abstract paintings, usually with acrylic and mixed media on wood. She also loves to draw.
Recently Jenny produced a body of work on hand-made rag paper using gouache, building up lines of colour and texture to represent the human experience, and the history and fragility of our lives.
Jenny exhibits regularly, mainly in the south west, and opens her studio during the biennial Salisbury Art Trail. (The next one will be in 2028). In 2024 she had a painting accepted for the RA Summer Exhibition, and one long-listed for the ‘Women in Art’ prize. In 2023 she was awarded the ‘still life/ floral award at the Bruton Art Society Anniversary Exhibition. In 2025 she was awarded the ‘Acrylic and mixed media’ prize at Sherborne Open Art Exhibition. Recent exhibitions include open calls by the Blandford Art Society and at the Little Gallery in Marlborough.
