Update from local artist Ava Stoker

Ava has been an avid supporter (and winner) of Art in Poundbury’s recent en plein air events. Her personal successes have led to even more exciting experiences in her young life, in her words:-

“I am excited to have just had printed my 2,000th greetings card of my artwork. My Dorset landmark designs are selling in various shops around Dorchester and Poundbury, and I’m really grateful to the outlets for their support and to everyone who has purchased them so far. I recently returned from an amazing and rewarding conservation trip to Borneo with Thomas Hardye School.  My fundraising journey for this began a year ago when I committed to raising £5,000. My art success started with Art in Poundbury’s Art in the Squares event, where my painting of Queen Mother Square won in my category. Art in Poundbury were really encouraging and I really enjoyed interacting with other artists on the day. I used the easel from my prize voucher at Art in the Sunflowers at Maiden Castle and I also purchased some oil paints after being inspired by local artist Pam Phillips’s work. This summer I took part in Art in the Park and my oil painting of the Great Field won in my category. This painting is on exhibition and for sale in Pip’s Cafe, Poundbury, in September and October. I would like to thank Judy Tate and the Art in Poundbury team for all their encouragement so far, and James Kerr at Art2Card for his support and advice”.

Many congratulations Ava – we look forward to seeing some more of your work in the up and coming ‘Bright and Beautiful’ exhibition in Jubilee Hall.
