Podi Lawrence
My career in the arts started a long time ago with attending art college, followed by a graphics course and then a teaching certificate. I have since had a full time career in the Fine Arts primarily as a full time artist painter specialising in portraiture, but have also experienced the other side of Art – curating exhibitions, running a gallery (3 to date), and my passion – showing others what they are missing. Over time I have experienced highs and lows: the highs were gaining a bronze medal at the Paris Salon in 1994; exhibiting several times at the Mall Galleries, London; working with the English National Ballet and with musicians from full Orchestras to individual Jazz players; exhibiting in Toronto, Hamilton New York, Panama City, and in Germany and France. My biggest portrait commission was of Sir Ian Gainsford, the then retiring Dean of Kings College Hospital, and many, many more since……… . I’ve forgotten the lowest bits!
