‘Making Our Mark’ was Art in Poundbury’s second exhibition of 2022, held in December at Jubilee Hall, where Casterbridge Art Society, along with Artwey and invited artists came together to put on an all-encompassing art experience filled with colour, texture and talent. It was also well supported by local businesses and an army of volunteers, who helped make it all possible.
145 amateur and professional artists of all ages filled every inch of the hall with an array of 2D and 3D work to enjoy – and buy!
Community art installation artist, Linda Ashe, took up the challenge to create a large installation for the hall, involving residents from Melrose Court retirement community as well as pupils from The Prince of Wales School and Damers First School – resulting in a huge display of suspended papier-mache baubles decorated with colourful rafia.
The week-long exhibition welcomed nearly 3,500 visitors, with works including prints and cards, selling well, including raising £1,500 through a raffle and art auction, for the Poundbury Food Share, based at Dorchester Community Church.
