Trace Paints

Imagine running through a garden as a small child – hair blowing wildly, the wind on your face, the sound of grass underfoot and the scent of flowers as you rush past them – the giddy excitement of being fully free, fully alive. This is the energy I bring to my work. Colours dance on the canvas – blended, bold, harmonious, or contrasting. The paintings have a dream-like quality inviting the viewer to enter their imagination or maybe a meditative journey. The work is intuitive and exploratory. I enjoy experimenting with mark-making using objects that can often have an unpredictive outcome, with random or repeating patterns. Many layers of paint, pencils, pastels, crayon or charcoal create complex yet playful, joyful and delicate works.
