Stella Doing Art

I have always enjoyed art and often attended the odd class while working as an NHS doctor for 33 years. On retirement, I went to Weymouth College and completed The Art Foundation Course, gaining a distinction. Since I have continued my artistic journey attending courses in person and on-line and have thoroughly enjoyed exercising my right brain!!! In 2021 and 2022 I took part in Dorset Art Weeks, organising solo exhibitions. I have been short-listed in 2021 for The Viking Cruises British Art Prize; short-listed in 2022 for the New Emergence Art Prize and exhibited in London, my short-listed painting, in The British Art Prize in November 2022. I work mostly using mixed media on paper, board or canvas and produce mostly semi abstract work often related to the marine environment. I spend a lot of time by, on and in the sea so it influences strongly my work. I love strong bold colours and patterns and am drawn to the colour blue. The paintings are built up of many layers to show depth and interest and to express my underlying feeling.
