Rowena Hampton

Was born in Barnes, SW London in December 1938. At the age of 9, Rowena won 1st prize in a National newspaper. Then aged 11, Rowena attended Life classes at Richmond College of Art, alongside her Education at Twickenham Grammar School for Girls. Following a year’s Foundation course at Kingston College of Art, it was necessary to follow a different career path and family. Portraits, largely in pastels (self taught) have been her 1st love and she has had many commissions to paint some very large Portraits. (Whilst a member of Bridport Art Society, Rowena painted two large oils (5ft x 5ft) of the Stations of the Cross.) After retirement Rowena ran workshops and gave many demonstrations to local Art Clubs here in West Dorset. Since living in Poundbury, Rowena has painted several hundreds of landscapes, animals, people, and flowers in pastels and oils. Painting still remains her greatest joy! (Judy I thought this might help when we meet 10.30 Tuesday)
