Patricia Burns was born in North Wales. After leaving Grammar School she commenced a five year apprenticeship in Commercial Art. This was mainly hand written lettering mastering every kind of style and size. Moving South she held a Senior position in a central office of a departmental store teaching her skills and producing hand written showcards, which incorporated silk screen printing. In the early 1980’s she ran her own business designing logos for large companies. When her three children were at University she moved to Devon and worked at Dartington Pottery as a decorator. At this time she also concentrated on developing her skills as a watercolourist. She set up her own studio sharing her experience giving informal workshops. This led to demos/workshops at local Societies. Best known for her colourful flowers and still life she was a member of the Society of Floral Painters for sixteen years. Her work has been represented in many open Exhibitions and galleries in Devon and Dorset. Patricia’s work is varied, working in all mediums and her paintings embrace a wide range of subject matter including flowers, still life, landscapes, abstract and figurative paintings. It comes natural for Patricia to use any size brush to create a painting and enjoys encouraging her methods to like-minded artists.
