A member for 5 years of the “3 Cs” Calligraphy Group based in Walditch, near Bridport.  3Cs is a local group of hobby calligraphers which is linked to the Blackmore Vale Scribes,  a widely known group whose recent exhibition at Sherborne Abbey was a great success. Martin started calligraphy in 2000 and has developed a special interest in Copperplate, Sharpened Italic, Gothic and Foundational Round Hand styles.   He has produced greetings cards to the late HM The Queen Mother and to the Princess Royal while serving in the Royal Navy and more recently an addition to a Family Tree hailing back to 1095. He is a regular contributor to the ArtinPoundbury exhibitions and the “ Meet the Artist” sessions.  More of a letterer than an artistic Calligrapher, Martin has completed commissions for quotations, wedding poems, family tree extensions, church notice boards and many other requested pieces in a variety of lettering styles as agreed with the client using a variety of writing materials.  Current projects include trying to master Gilding of Renaissance “White Vine” capitals. Resident in Poundbury since 2015.
