SUMMARY:MEET THE ARTISTS December 2nd 2023
DESCRIPTION:During our December Exhibition there will be "Meet the Artist"
sessions in the Jubilee Hall.\nAn invitation to observe artists at their c
 raft and engage in conversation.\n10am - 12 noon\nAdebanji Alade\n\n\nWe h
ave the absolute privilege of welcoming The President of the Royal Institu
te of Oil Painters to a special session\nduring our opening morning. Known
as the "addictive sketcher" from the title of his first book\, published
in 2020.\n"I work directly from life or from photo references. I paint dir
ectly without building up successive layers of paint. I paint shape by sha
pe\, a technique I call inside-out\, in which the painting is embarked upo
n from a spot inside the workspace and I spread out\, still working shape
by shape until the whole piece is complete. I also work from broad shapes
to details\, a technique I call outside-in\, where the painting starts off
with broad strokes to cover the ground and then finished off with details
on the inside.\nI mainly work with oils but I use acrylics\, watercolour\
, pastels\, Coloured pencils\, charcoal and graphite and I also love to co
mbine these in mixed media works too."\n&nbsp\;\n1pm - 4pm\nRebecca Lardne
r \nhttp://www.rebeccalardner.com/\n\nBorn in Swanage in 1971\, Rebecca La
rdner is a landscape artist with an eye for simplicity\, colour\, and pers
onality. Much of her work depicts life on the south-west coast\, showing t
he changing seasons\, bustling life\, and individual characters – human
and animal! Leaving Sir John Moore’s University in Liverpool Rebecca was
commissioned by Sir Paul McCartney’s Music Academy\, swiftly followed b
y the Russ Foundation in Southern India. With prestigious titles such as t
he best new artist in 2008 and the UK's Artist of the Year in 2010\, Rebec
ca's whimsical paintings have garnered significant attention.\nRebecca Lar
dner’s animated harbour scenes encapsulate everything that is most charm
ing about British coastal life and the lively impression of ceaseless ever
 yday activity.\n\n\n1pm - 4pm\nIngrid Ellis  \n[caption id="attachment_3
 334" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Ingrid Ellis[/caption]\n"Until relat
ively recently I worked exclusively in textiles\, making mostly abstract\,
quilted pictures as well as vibrant\, quilted wall hangings.  I have rec
ently  started working on collage and mixed media pictures\, which I real
ly enjoyed adding to my repertoire. My work is never planned in detail.
I respond to possibilities\, to new paths and solutions along the way\; th
e beautiful Dorset coast road fascinates me endlessly as well as the col
 ours in abstract work."\n
